The U.S. Department of Agriculture found that using black, green and oolong teas, may increase insulin activity. SO if you are going to drink tea make it one of the chosen three.

Based on a study done in the Netherlands the following observations were made. When drinking teas to address diabetes – drink oolong, black or green. Herbal teas have little to no effect given that the nutrients in the teas do not stay in the body long enough.
Do not add milk to your tea.
